Islanders are being asked to provide their feedback on the first concept designs for Jersey’s new hospital.

A virtual public exhibition has opened allowing visitors to see and understand the emerging designs, learn about the internal feel and flow of the hospital, and see how the building has influenced the creation of new gardens, public spaces and the benefits it has for the wider surrounding area.

These concept designs have been formed following extensive community engagement, including working with residents, senior clinicians, a health workers’ panel and the Our Hospital Citizens’ Panel.

The feedback that the Design and Delivery Partner receives from the public will help further refine the concept designs before the full planning application submission in the autumn.

Chair of the Our Hospital Political Oversight Group Senator Lyndon Farnham added: “There is  a firm commitment for the Our Hospital project to engage fully, at all stages of the process, with islanders, and to obtain their valuable input which has helped us reach this significant project milestone. As we progress steadily towards the full planning application later this year,   I know the design team are looking forward to receiving more input from the public and our  healthcare professionals to help them to produce the final design for our new hospital.”

“Our aim is to produce a patient-centred modern, flexible landmark building grounded in Jersey’s culture, history and identity which is able to provide the very best health care solutions for us all and for future generations of islanders.”

Steve Featherstone, the Our Hospital’s lead architect and director of Llewelyn Davies architects, said: “Following  one of the most extensive engagement processes we have been involved in, we are delighted to be in a position to present the concept designs for Jersey’s new hospital to Islanders.

“The public’s contribution to date, as well as the hard work and guidance from the Island’s healthcare professionals, has enabled us to produce a fantastic design solution that will take care of Jersey’s future health care needs for decades to come. We now need Islanders to absorb the information through the public exhibition and then provide their feedback to allow us to refine our plans ready for this autumn‘s full planning application.”
