Jersey’s marine research and protection mission
Listening to yesterday’s Radio 4 episode of Rare Earth (available of BBC sounds ) which was this week about seabed protection and recovery efforts in parts of Great Britain I was reminded of the subject’s vital importance to us as an island. This lead me to the tremendous effort that is being devoted toward the understanding, protection, and recovery of our rich diverse seabed environments around the island by Jersey Marine Conservation.
This Government’s aims as well should be mentioned which are to ensure we can help and encourage not only their efforts but positively and constructively respond to their findings. Being a relatively small and comparatively wealthy jurisdiction we have the opportunity for real ground breaking, world standard achievements and I would like to see Jersey held aloft as an example of what can be done, in this and as many other fields as possible.
